It’s that magical time of year again — when twinkling lights go up, Mariah Carey defrosts, and a mysterious little troublemaker arrives at Fox in a Box..
There’s a Cheeky Christmas Elf Loose in Our Escape Rooms!
Find them between 12–24 December and win a prize!
Yes… a Christmas Elf has broken into each of our escape rooms, and they’ll be hiding somewhere between 12th and 24th December.
Your mission?
Escape the room and be the first person to spot the elf. Your reward? A prize… and of course, eternal bragging rights.
But before you start wildly turning over every prop and accusing innocent furniture of harbouring elves, let’s talk about where these tiny mischief-makers came from.
A Brief (and fun) History of the Elf on the Shelf
Unless you’ve been living under a rock — or inside a locked escape room — you’ve probably heard of the Elf on the Shelf. This tradition began in the early 2000s with a children’s book of the same name… and then exploded into a worldwide festive phenomenon faster than Santa can say “Ho ho ho.”
In the original story, Santa sends magical “Scout Elves” to watch over children and report back on their behaviour. Cute, right?
Well… sort of.
You see, these elves move every night, popping up in new locations with a level of enthusiasm unmatched by most adults after 1 December. Some elves fish for Goldfish crackers in the sink. Some zip-line through living rooms. Some leave flour snow angels on benchtops. And some — the truly chaotic ones — end up causing more mess than the children they’re supposed to supervise.
Naturally, we looked at all this elf-related mischief and thought:
Perfect. Let’s put them in our escape rooms.
How It Works: A Festive Side-Quest
From 12–24 December, every one of our escape rooms — from the tense to the hilarious — will have a Christmas Elf cleverly hidden inside.
If you’re the first person in your booking to spot the elf, just point them out to your Games Master after the room. You’ll win a special prize and possibly become the hero of Christmas (we can’t legally promise that last part, but it feels right).
And don’t worry — the elf won’t be too sneaky. They’re helpful… in a sneaky, rule-breaking, Santa-might-fire-them sort of way.
Expect Festive Chaos (The Good Kind)
Our elves are known for:
Popping up where you least expect
Watching you solve puzzles with judgmental holiday cheer
Smiling in that “I know something you don’t” kind of way
Being extremely photogenic for post-game victory selfies
One thing they will not do is help you escape the room. They’ve read the rules. They just choose to ignore them.
Book Your Christmas Game Today
Whether you’re planning a festive outing, a family challenge, or an office Christmas event where everyone competes to be the smartest person in the room (good luck with that), December is the perfect month to lock yourselves in a room… with a mischievous elf.
Book between 12–24 December and try your luck at spotting the elf before it spots you.
Escape rooms + Christmas chaos = the most entertaining holiday tradition you didn’t know you needed.
